Restore your Mac display layout after sleep or reconnecting a dock.

If macOS rearranges your external monitors after sleep or a dock reconnect, save the working arrangement once and restore those screen positions when the same displays return.

Try the built-in arrangement controls first

1. Connect every monitor and dock you normally use.
2. Open System Settings → Displays → Arrange.
3. Place each display where it physically sits and set the correct main display.
4. Sleep and wake the Mac, or reconnect the dock, to see whether the positions persist.

Why monitor positions can reset

A dock, cable or display may reconnect in a different order. macOS can also receive incomplete or changing display identity information. The screens are still usable, but their virtual positions may no longer match your desk.

Save and automatically restore positions

In DisplaySpan, save the current display arrangement after it is correct. Then enable automatic restore. When the same displays can be reliably identified after wake or reconnect, DisplaySpan reapplies their saved positions.

Displays that macOS cannot uniquely identify are deliberately not restored automatically. This avoids moving the wrong screen.

What layout restoration does not change

DisplaySpan restores screen positions only. It does not manage resolution, refresh rate, HDR, rotation or mirroring. If one of those settings changes, adjust it in System Settings or use a tool designed for deeper display configuration.
