A good start for your screens.

Install and get comfortable

  1. Download DisplaySpan for macOS 14 or later. Open the DMG and drag the app into Applications.
  2. Arrange your displays in macOS System Settings first.
  3. Start your 3-day trial online, or activate your license.
  4. Enable cursor edge repair in DisplaySpan. No Input Monitoring permission is required.
  5. Save your current layout, then enable automatic restore if you want the same arrangement after reconnecting.
  6. To use the screen brightness keys for the display under your pointer, enable brightness-key control and grant Accessibility access in the Brightness settings.

Input privacy

Cursor repair listens only to pointer movement and dragging and does not require Input Monitoring. Optional keyboard control handles only brightness media-key events. DisplaySpan does not upload keyboard or cursor activity.

Compatibility

macOS 14 or later. Cursor and layout behavior depends on the monitor identities exposed by macOS. Displays that cannot be uniquely identified are not automatically restored.

Apple display brightness uses system display services. Third-party external brightness currently uses an Apple Silicon DDC/CI backend. Your monitor, cable and dock must pass DDC commands. DisplaySpan doesn’t promise brightness support for every monitor or Intel Mac.

Layout restoration controls screen positions. It does not manage resolution, refresh rate, HDR, rotation or mirroring.
